Location

The river Itchen meanders gracefully from its source near Cheriton in Hampshire, through Winchester to its completion in Southampton water.

By Road

The fishery is located less than 5 miles from Junction 5 off the M27 providing excellent access from surrounding areas, with London only 77 miles away.

For the business person, Southampton is only a few miles away, allowing fishing after a day at the office or to entertain business clients at the river.

Via M27 - Junction 5 (If travelling from the West, or North via M3)

Take Junction 5 off the M27. At the roundabout under the motorway take the second exit and follow the signs for Southampton (Eastleigh) Airport.
At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit towards Southampton Airport (Wide Lane - A.335) over the railway line to another roundabout by the entrance to the airport.
Take the 3rd exit signed Itchen ValleyCountry Park.
Continue along this road to a mini roundabout.
Take the 1st exit into Mansbridge Road.
Continue along the road through a set of traffic lights, over the river, past the White Swan public house.
The entrance to Lower Itchen Fishery is over a bridge on the left immediately at the bottom of a hill, at Gaters Mill.

Via M27 - Junction 7 (If travelling from the East)

Travelling eastbound, take Junction 7 off M27.
At the roundabout take first exit towards Southampton.
At the next roundabout take the 4th exit signed towards West End.
Continue along this road, across traffic lights.
At the roundabout by the petrol station, go straight over.
Go past Haskins Garden Centre on the left and down the hill.
The entrance to Lower Itchen Fishery is over a bridge on the right immediately at the bottom of the hill at Gaters Mill.


By Air

For those travelling from further afield, Southampton Airport (which accommodates flights from Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, and various airports in Scotland & Ireland, and international flights from the Channel Islands, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Caen, and Cherbourg) is about a 5 minute car journey away.


By Rail

With Southampton Parkway (Eastleigh Airport) train station only 2 miles away, getting to/from London Waterloo takes just 1 hour.


Once at the fishery, access to the beats is via a private track which follows the course of the river and enables rods to park beside their beat.
